DarwinFPV Introduces Digital Version of Micro FPV Drone TinyApe HD Weighing Up to 150 Grams

DarwinFPV, known for creating compact and lightweight FPV drones, has announced an updated version of its TinyApe series. The new model, TinyApe HD, supports digital video links and high-quality video recording with optional systems from Caddx and DJI. Let's dive into the details. Let's go!

Versions

The primary difference between the TinyApe HD models is the pre-installed digital FPV system from Caddx and DJI. The TinyApe Avatar version from Caddx features a horizontally mounted Avatar 1S Lite HD digital video transmitter, a slightly more compact frame (98×98×30 mm), and weighs 55 grams without the battery. The TinyApe O3 version from DJI offers a vertically mounted VTx, dimensions of 105×85×53 mm, and weighs 88.6 grams without the battery. DarwinFPV also offers the TinyApe O3 BNF (without O3) for self-installation.

DarwinFPV's branded 3S batteries with a capacity of 500 mAh weigh 40 grams, meaning the TinyApe series falls into the sub-150-gram weight category, exempting it from drone registration hassles.

Frame

Initially offered with an analog video transmitter, the TinyApe has been updated for digital FPV systems. The frame for all versions is a carbon construction in a "Wide X" format with 2mm thick arms.

FC, ESC, Receiver

The TinyApe series features a dust- and water-resistant "All-In-One" stack, consisting of a DarwinFPV F411 flight controller with an F4 processor, 15-amp 4-in-1 ESC, and an SPI receiver in ExpressLRS 2.4 GHz configuration. A version with a Crossfire Nano RX receiver from TBS is also available.

Power System and Battery

Like the analog version, the TinyApe HD is equipped with 1103 8000KV brushless motors paired with 2-inch three-blade Gemfan 2512-3 propellers. This setup provides a maximum horizontal flight speed of up to 90 km/h. The recommended power source is a 3S LiPo battery with a capacity of 380 to 500 mAh 100C and an XT30 connector.

All versions of TinyApe HD are available for purchase on the official DarwinFPV website. The TinyApe Avatar BNF version is priced at $336, TinyApe O3 BNF at $506, and TinyApe O3 BNF (without O3) at $166 (excluding tax and shipping).
